Burial, Cremation & Ash Storage

The body may be buried or cremated depending on the wishes and religion of the deceased.

In Singapore, burial can only be carried out at Choa Chu Kang (CCK) Cemetery. You are advised to note that since 1 November 1998, all burials at CCK Cemetery are limited to a 15-year bury-in period.

Bookings for burial can be made through phone, online or in person at the booking office.
Documents required for verification before the burial:
Death Certificate (original)
Permit to Bury (Original)
Identification papers of next-of-kin and applicant e.g. NRIC, Passport, etc.
Letter of authorization (if applicant is not a next-of-kin)
Payment is to be made at the booking office before the burial. Payment modes:

Cheque (crossed and made payable to National Environment Agency)
All cancellations and change of confirmed bookings have to be made by the applicant or next-of-kin of the deceased in person at the booking office, together with all the relevant documents.

There are three crematoria in Singapore – one government-managed crematorium and two private crematoria.

Cremated ashes may be stored in columbaria niches. Niches are available at two government-managed columbaria and private columbaria.
